Whether you own a gaming or a personal computer, there are five internal computer components to it. First of all, the motherboard is the main component of the computer, and think of it as the glue that keeps all the parts working together cohesively. The motherboard’s video card and Central Processing Unit are contained within an integrated (built-in) chipset; this helps the computer perform basic functions. The next extremely important component is the CPU. Because of its direct plug connection to the motherboard and its ability to communicate with all of the computer’s other components, the CPU is commonly referred to as the “brain” of the computer. All of the computer processes are handled in the CPU, and everything you type on the keyboard goes through the CPU and is converted into computer language for processes to occur.
The third of the internal computer components in the graphics processing unit (GPU) is a video card. Many gamers obsess over the next new graphics card, which is understandable because these graphics cards allow computers to generate high-end visuals like those found in the many different types of video games available. However, in addition to video games, high-performance graphics cards are beneficial to those who rely on images to execute their craft, such as 3D modelers who work with resource-intensive software. The fourth type is random access memory (RAM), and we’ve all heard about it before. It is also known as volatile memory and stores information about programs and processes that are frequently accessed. It is called volatile memory because it is completely erased each time the computer is restarted; however, it speeds up the startup and shutdown of programs and games.
The last most important internal computer components are the storage devices installed in the system. Every computer requires a place to store the information it generates. Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) or Solid State Drives (SSDs) are storage devices for computers. Hard disc drives (HDDs) are made up of a physical disc on which data is stored. However, while HDDs are significantly less expensive than SSDs, they are rapidly becoming obsolete. SSDs are a lot more popular because they have no moving parts and are significantly faster than hard drives. Getting to know what components your computer consists of would help you identify and fix problems in your computer a lot quicker.
